Disney On Ice: Let's Dance! Reno reviews
The touring production of Phantom, labeled as "New", was disappointing on various levels. Some of the singers were very good, while others were just acceptable. However, the production did not live up to the original one, still seen in NY and London. This new version neglects the iconic set pieces of the original show and alters the blocking of key emotional moments, resulting in a lack of impact. In the original touring production, it required 27 semi tractor trailers to transport the show, but now only one is needed to cut costs. Surprisingly, ticket prices remain high, if not higher, than those at the Majestic Theatre in New York. This new rendition is considerably worse than the original. It's akin to comparing it to baseball, with New York and London productions representing the Major Leagues, while this new touring version is more akin to semi-pro or low-end minor league baseball. Those unfamiliar with the original may find this version appealing, but loyal fans of the original will likely be let down. Die-hard Phantom fans or those well-versed in the show will not appreciate it. I wouldn't shell out the current ticket prices to see this touring production again. If tickets were cheaper, say 20 dollars, it might be more justifiable. However, paying 65 dollars for balcony seats to a subpar production is a big no. Essentially, it's not a worthwhile investment. Save your money and catch the show in New York, where you'll experience the authentic Disney On Ice.
